Mobile carriers often charge less to deliver SMS messages on their own network than to other carrier networks, and thus service providers can reduce their total cost of delivering SMS messages by ascertaining the correct carrier via the Lookup Service.

INMS gets facelift using AJAX

Industry Number Management Services, the company responsible for allocating 13/1300/1800 and Premium SMS (191-199) telephone numbers on behalf of the ACMA, successfully launched its new-look system this week.

The INMS system was first launched in November 2000 and has since allocated over 150,000 numbers. Users can receive number allocations via the Internet using INMS's online Browser. It is this online Browser that has been given a facelift using the latest web technology known as AJAX.

INMS and its IT provider, Paradigm.One, undertook the Browser facelift to make the INMS system easier to use for its online customers.

Megan McEwin, General Manager of INMS, said "Paradigm.One has delivered a great product, on time and on budget. The new-look system has improved security and is easier to use. Customers can now monitor the progress of their porting, allocation and cancellation transactions to see which carriers have updated their switches. MCF Radio Frequency National Site Archive (RFNSA) system launched under EIE initiative by Paradigm.One

The RFNSA application was developed by Telstra in conjunction with the Mobile Carriers Forum (MCF) for the industry to manage EME compliance. The RFNSA application provides site access for the general public for radio site location, carrier contact details and environmental EME reports as required under the ACIF C564:2002 Deployment of Radio Communications Infrastructure Industry Code.

In 2004, MCF and Telstra jointly decided to migrate this RFNSA application from Telstra to EIE as a cost-effective solution. The seamless transfer to EIE was completed by Paradigm.One in July 2004 with no impact to existing users.

Paradigm.One to develop software for allocation (via INMS) of new '19' SMS and MMS numbers

Industry Number Management Services Ltd is set to allocate new Premium Rate SMS and MMS numbers when they are released by the telecommunications regulator, Australian Communications Authority (ACA) in January 2004.

The new premium rate numbers will be used for services such as SMS chat-rooms, competition voting and information subscription services. A trial of these services is currently being conducted by mobile carriers using a test number range until the new 191-199 numbers become available.

The INMS already allocates Freephone (1800) and Local Rate (13/1300) numbers using a computerised system and will use the same system to allocate the new Premium Rate numbers to carriers at cost-based prices.

Dick Johnson, Chairman of INMS, commented today that "it makes sense to use the INMS system since the infrastructure is already there. Our IT provider Paradigm.One has already commenced work and we are confident that our system will be ready to allocate these numbers by January 2004".

AMTA launches Paradigm.One developed IMEI Blocking application under EIE initiative

The Australian Mobile Telecommunication Association (AMTA) today launched a system to block IMEI numbers across all GSM networks in Australia.

"Using new anti-theft technology which allows the sharing of information across all carriers, lost and stolen phones are now virtually worthless. Once reported as missing they cannot be connected to any network in Australia", said AMTA CEO, Graham Chalker.

AMTA commissioned Paradigm.One to develop this system and provide ongoing hosting, operations, support and maintenance services under the Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) initiative.

Paradigm.One to develop Lost and Stolen Mobile IMEI Blocking application

Australian Mobile Telecommunication Association (AMTA) has selected Paradigm.One to develop a central application that will facilitate the exchange of information between mobile carriers for the purposes of blocking and unblocking International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers. The software solution will eventually assist in the administration of IMEI Blocking, third party interrogation, and regular reporting.

The last of five major releases of the Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) administration node was made available today by Paradigm.One. As with previous releases, this release was delivered as planned, on-time, with no changes to the original fixed-price proposal.

The ACIF Board approved the recommendation of the Electronic Information Exchange (EIE) Reference Panel to commence contract negotiations with Paradigm.One as the preferred supplier to provide and operate the Administration Node for the EIE Infrastructure.

Press Release - INMS software redeveloped by Paradigm.One

The Industry Number Management Services (INMS) software has now been replaced with a new system. Software provider, Paradigm.One, was approached by the INMS to replace the existing software to enable INMS to fully support the portability system.

Dick Johnson, the Chairman of INMS, said "Paradigm.One provided a fixed cost solution that was economical and also offered INMS the intellectual rights to the software as well as allowing INMS the ability to maintain the software for the life of its contract"

The new system went into production with a seamless transfer in late November 2001. While in production for only two months the early indications from INMS and its subscribers have been very positive, with the system not experiencing any unavailability or performance issues. Dick Johnson added "After the problems of delivery experienced with the original version, it was a pleasant surprise to have the new system delivered 2 weeks early and on budget without any impediment or downtime to our subscribers".

Paradigm.One had been assigned the support contract for the INMS system in December 2000, after the financial collapse of the original contractor, I-Tel.

Martin Cantwell, Director of Paradigm.One, said "With all the issues surrounding the original software, it was important that we developed a system that complied with the specifications, and could be easily maintained. The short timeframe for installation and the requirement of a seamless cut over made the project especially challenging - it certainly caused some sleepless nights! The fact that these objectives were achieved is a testament to the hard work put in by our staff".

Paradigm.One has agreed a 5 month time frame to completely re-design, code, test and deploy the new system and is confident this will have no adverse impact on the INMS subscribers.

Telstra renews support agreement with Paradigm.One

Telstra have renewed Paradigm.One's support contract for their Fleetcoms, Seaphone and Radphone Customer Service System.

Support for this system is provided from Paradigm.One's North Sydney Support Centre, which offers seven day a week helpdesk facilities.

John Lutge, Business Development Manager of Paradigm.One said, "The renewal of this support agreement is another vote of confidence in Paradigm.One. Telstra have been extremely happy with the support they have received and are keen that this should continue."

Paradigm.One to develop Billing Analysis system for Stratos Communications

Canadian based Stratos Communications, a world leader in Satellite communications, have selected Paradigm.One to develop a B2B Billing Analysis software system for their resellers.

The internet deployed system will be developed using the latest Oracle, Java and Velocity technology and will be hosted and supported from Paradigm.One's North Sydney Data Centre.

Hutchison Telecommunications chooses Paradigm.One for MNP solution

One.Tel have chosen Paradigm.One to supply a "cost-effective ready to implement" solution to facilitate connectivity to the growing ranks of INMS subscribers.

INMS selects Paradigm.One for 13, 1800, 1300 portability

The Board of Industry Number Management Services Ltd (INMS) has selected Australian IT company Paradigm.One to take over the contract to provide the telecommunications industry with bureau services for freephone ('1800') and local rate ('13') numbers.

The INMS appointed Paradigm.One after I-TEL, who was previously providing this service to the industry, went into voluntary administration.

Dick Johnson, Chairman of INMS said, "Paradigm.One was selected from a variety of possible vendors because it convinced the Board it could seamlessly continue to provide services to the industry during the transfer from I-TEL to Paradigm.One"

"The Board was also impressed that Paradigm.One had excellent IT capabilities, having built similar systems for some of the industry's largest carriers, and that it will be able to provide number allocation and portability to the standards demanded by industry."

"The INMS system is working to provide both the allocation and porting of '1800' and '13' numbers. Although there have been some initial teething troubles since INMS commenced service on 30 November, the INMS expects Paradigm.One will work with INMS subscribers to resolve them in the near term. I understand that Cable and Wireless Optus ported four numbers on Friday and that it and other carriers are in the process of porting hundreds of other numbers" Mr Johnson said.

PowerTel will shortly be joining the ranks of INMS subscribers, and have turned to Oracle and Paradigm.One to provide a proven solution quickly to facilitate connection to the FreePhone & Local Rate Number database managed by INMS.

AAPT first to pass INMS certification

As one of the subscribers to INMS, AAPT was the first to be certified by INMS for production use of their 13, 1300 and 1800 number portability system. AAPT's backend system and interface to INMS was developed by Paradigm.One in a fast-tracked development process. The development took only 8 weeks from specification to build, testing and documentation.

AAPT begins testing for INMS Number Portability

With the deadline of 16 November nearing for portability of 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers, Industry Number Management Services Limited (INMS) and its subscriber AAPT have moved into the testing phase of the number portability project. Paradigm.One provided AAPT with the technical implementation of the interface to the INMS system.

Telstra signs support contract

Paradigm.One has been chosen to support Telstra's Fleetcoms, Seaphone and Radphone Customer Service System, initially for the period of 18 months. The system includes customer call management, fault tracking, escalation processing, and fully integrated customer billing engines.

The support centre based in North Sydney offers a first and second line helpdesk operating 7 days week.
